The Cohen Blanket - Digital PDF Pattern

CA$10.99

This blanket is woven in plain weave, the simplest of woven structures. It utilizes DOUBLE WEAVE and COLOUR AND WEAVE for an engaging weave and fascinating blanket.

DOUBLE WIDTH Double width falls under the umbrella of double weave, a structure that produces two layers of cloth on one warp. To achieve double width, the layers are separated on one selvedge and joined on the other. This creates one piece of cloth that when taken off the loom, unfolds to double the width of what it is on the loom.

COLOUR AND WEAVE creates pattern by varying colour in the warp and weft. This blanket’s warp is threaded in four patterns while the weft is treadled in six variations. The resulting blanket creates twenty one different patterns, each carefully placed for an overall balanced design.

This bold blanket’s design inspiration stems from the beloved Canadian poet and musician Leonard Cohen. Like Cohen’s art, a simple structure is taken to it’s extremities to create an object that invites wonder and examination of its complexities

The instructions in this booklet will set you up for weaving one blanket.

Finished Dimensions approximately 45 × 65” after wet finishing.
