This one day beginner indigo-dyeing workshop will provide participants with a general overview of indigo history, chemistry and dyeing methods. Using a simple reduction formula, we will build an indigo vat together, and use various wood-block resist techniques to create ready to wear or ready to display indigo-dyed items.

INSTRUCTOR: Danny Ross from IOTA Studio, $125

PROJECT: Using wood blocks, clamps and twine, participants will use traditional Japanese itajime shibori resist techniques to create one or two finished scarves or wall-hangings. Participants will have an opportunity to learn and practice a variety of techniques before completing their final projects.
