October 21 - Continental Knitting
October 21 - Continental Knitting
INSTRUCTOR: Susan of Knit Frog Repeat
6 - 8:30pm
Continental knitting is a method of knitting that tensions the working yarn in the left hand. If you are a right-handed, English/throwing knitter, the Continental method could be a faster way to knit. Some find tensioning the working yarn in their left hand to be a little more comfortable and ergonomic. For those that want to knit colourwork with one colour in each hand, this is a great skill to learn.
CLASS STRUCTURE: the workshop will cover the different ways to knit in the Continental method. This method will have the left hand managing the working yarn, but as makers, the way we hold our yarn and needles does vary. The focus of the workshop takes into consideration each maker’s natural tendencies in their knitting preferences, while learning how to wrap the yarn using the left hand.
DISCUSSION: the different Continental styles and how each will yield a different result. What to expect in your knitted work when tensioning with the left / right hand.
INCLUDED: 25 g of DK-worsted weight yarn to practice with and loaner DPNs needles to use in class.
PREREQUISITE: know how to cast-on, knit and purl in any style.
PLEASE BRING: notebook and pen. If you prefer to use your own needles, please bring US 5 – 7 / 3.75 – 4.5 mm needles, long enough to knit 20 sts, back and forth / flat.
CANCELLATION POLICY: Due to very small class sizes, we are unable to offer refunds on workshops. If for any reason you are unable to attend, you can send someone in your place.
