Create your own flat-stitched sweeper broom using natural broomcorn and a smooth wooden handle in this hands-on, beginner friendly workshop. Guided step by step, you'll learn traditional broom making techniques, including how to prepare and bundle broomcorn, stitch and shape the broom's distinctive flat profile, before securing it to a sturdy wooden handle. Measuring approximately 5 feet long, your finished broom will be both practical and beautiful, perfect for everyday sweeping or displayed as a handcrafted piece in your home.
During the workshop, you will:
Learn traditional broom-making techniques as you create your sweeper broom from start to finish.
Discover the history of broomcraft, the natural materials used in this time-honoured craft, and how to properly care for your handmade broom.
WHAT TO BRING: All tools and materials are provided.
PREREQUISITE: This workshop is beginner friendly, however it is physical and will require the use of your whole body.
CANCELLATION POLICY: Due to very small class sizes, we are unable to offer refunds on workshops. If for any reason you are unable to attend, you can send someone in your place. Any classes cancelled by us due to low registration or health mandates will have the option for a refund or transfer to future date.
