June 27 - Crochet a Wool Bowl
Crochet is kind of like Knit’s little sister. She’s kind of a copy cat - crochet stitches can look similar to knitted stitches. The older sister is pretty straightforward in that knitting deals with only two stitches - the knit stitch + the purl stitch. Crochet is the more complicated kid - in the sense that there is a whole library of stitches you can choose from to make something. In the end they are related - both needlework techniques can produce toques, scarves, socks or blankets to name a few!
In this workshop you’ll get to know Crochet a little bit better.
PROJECT: Over the course of four hours you will learn a few basic crochet techniques in order to make a bowl out of wool roving yarn.
These bowls can hold anything from keys + knick-knacks to on-going craft projects to bananas + pears depending on how large or small you make the bowl.
You'll be provided with a 9mm crochet hook, a pattern booklet + two skeins of wool roving in which there will be a selection of colours to choose from.
DISCUSSION: Skills covered include how to read a crochet pattern, make a slip knot (sl), chain (ch), how to crochet a single crochet (Sc) stitch + how to crochet in a spiral.
PREREQUISITE: None! Keeping in mind that everyone learns at a different pace - with patience you’ll get the hang of how to hold a crochet hook + yarn to make a fun + functional object for your home.
NOTE: Class size is limited to 8 people. All materials are provided. Masks Optional
