Beginner Weaving - Weave a Cushion Cover

Weaving is actually pretty easy, it's just the set up that is so darn complicated.  When you come to this class, the majority of the set up will already be done! The looms will be "dressed" and you'll be weaving in no time. That said, the set up is important/necessary and also fascinating so we will spend about an going over that set up process.

INSTRUCTOR: Fern

PROJECT: Students will weave a cotton cushion cover using four shaft table and floor looms. Lots of colours will be available, you can pick and choose to your liking.

DISCUSSION: types of looms, loom anatomy, basic weave structures, project planning, pattern reading, how to wind a warp, how to dress a loom, basic finishing techniques

DEMONSTRATION: condensed version of the warping process, plain weave, weft face weave
