Beginner Knitting - Knit a Toque, Headband or Scarf

This workshop takes place over two weeks and will guide you through the complete process of creating your own heirloom hand knits. You’ll learn the fundamentals of knitting and finish your first project: a toque, a scarf OR a headband.

PROJECT: Students will have the option to select one of three different projects - a toque (with or without pompom), headband or scarf - all based on the same basic pattern. Students will be given a selection of yarn colours.

DISCUSSION: How to get started : understanding materials, how to pick yarn, needles and notions for a project. Fundamental techniques of knitting, purling and stitch combinations. How to start and finish a project (casting on and off) fixing errors, understanding gauge and tension. How to read basic patterns and project care.

INCLUDES: 8 hours instruction over two classes, a helpful knitting guide, project bag with everything needed to start knitting.

PREREQUISITE: None! All experience levels are welcome.

NOTE: All materials provided for both classes, needles are yours to keep at no additional cost. Cancellations must be made 48 hours before class date for full refund. Class subject to cancellation if the minimum registration is not met. Please arrive 5-10 minutes before class start time.
