Literally translated as "Little Stabs", Sashiko refers to the running stitches used to create geometric motifs in this form of traditional Japanese embroidery. In this workshop, we will explore historic and contemporary uses of Sashiko, patterns and pattern meanings, review best practices and why they are used and learn basic stitch techniques and transfer methods.
We will stitch small sample pieces before beginning work on our cotton cushion. The cushion is pre-sewn with zipper on backside. All materials will be supplied, including navy and beige thread.
