The ancient craft of embroidery is back on the rise, and for good reason! It’s a relaxing and timeless art which requires little setup and few tools. What it does require is a bit of know-how, patience, and a few tricks to master your needle and floss. This workshop will take you through the complete process of creating your own 6” embroidery hoop, exploring the various ways to make the class pattern your own.
INSTRUCTOR : Alex @floralsandflossembroidery ($120)
PROJECT: Students will make a floral embroidery in a 6" hoop. Two similar patterns will be provided and students will be given a large selection of embroidery floss colours to choose from, as well as various colours of fabric to stitch on. All materials are provided for the class, at the end of class you will be able to purchase additional patterns and supplies to take home.
DISCUSSION: Various ways to transfer patterns to fabric, fundamental embroidery stitches, tips and tricks, finishing techniques to display your hoop, Alex’s favorite products and fabrics and where to find them.
PREREQUISITE: None! All experience levels are welcome.
NOTE: Class will break 15-30 minutes for lunch, lunch is not provided. Students will learn the key skills required to complete the workshop pattern. Since embroidery is a relaxing art to be enjoyed at a personalized pace, some work may be required outside of class to complete the project. Class size limited to 8 people. All materials provided, craft portrait not included. Cancellations must be made 48 HOURS BEFORE class date for full refund. Class subject to cancellation if minimum registration of 8 people is not met. Class end time may vary by 15 minutes.
