Weaving is actually pretty easy, it's just the set up that is so darn complicated. When you come to this class, the majority of the set up will already be done! The looms will be "dressed" and you'll be weaving in no time. That said, the set up is important/necessary and also fascinating so we will spend about an hour going over that set up process.
PROJECT: Students will weave a wool/linen table runner or place mat using four shaft table and floor looms. Lots of colours will be available, you can pick and choose to your liking. Photo shows the range of possibilities, soft and subtle on the left, crazy colourful on the right! You decide what's your jam.
DISCUSSION: types of looms, loom anatomy, basic weave structures, project planning, pattern reading, how to wind a warp, how to dress a loom, basic finishing techniques
DEMONSTRATION: condensed version of the warping process, plain weave, weft face weave
PREREQUISITE: None! This is a beginner class, no experience necessary
NOTE: Class size limited to 5 people. All materials provided, Lady Craft portrait included. One hour lunch break, lunch NOT provided. Cancellations must be made 72 hours before class date for full refund. Class subject to cancellation if the minimum registration of 4 people is not met.
